The Appalling State of Support for Addiction-Related Research
This article linked below describes the deplorable state of research funding for addictions in the US today.
The article provides some background on this issue as well as suggestions for rectifying the problem. I think the article bears scrutiny not only for the awareness and information provided but also to help us understand what we are really up against. Addiction is maybe the number one societal cost and burden we face in this country today and we are not doing very well with it.
Note the stubborn resistance to the acceptance of such an enlightened new approach as SMART Recovery. It is not mentioned in this article and recently “ The Fix” described a “holistic” approach to recovery but also never mentioned SMART!! Egregious!!
